It seems that someone spilled a whole quart of oil in the passenger side of my 94, what should I use to get it all out, everything I have tried does not get it all.
You're probably gonna think I'm nuts, but this DOES work!.....Spray the oil stain down with WD-40, and let it soak for a bit. It will cut/loosen the oil stain, and you can then use a simple soap/water solution to clean up the mess, and suck it up with a wet/dry shop vac. WD-40 is a good pre-wash treatment for grease/oil stains in your clothes too
if you want it done right, you need to pull that side of the carpet out. then go get a couple of cans of starting fluid. soak it down with the starting fluid. dont bother drying it, it will be dry before you could get started.
Alcohol is one of the best gentle solvents around. Pour it on and mop it up with paper towels to absorb the oil. It will evaporate quickly and not leave the carpet wet like some other degreasers. WD-40 has a light oil content to it also. You will get up most of the motor oil but then need to remove the WD40. If you need to get more agressive, try carb cleaner like Chemtool B12. It will completely break down oil.
What ever you decide to try, test it under the seat to see if it attacks the carpet / dye. :yesnod:
