Looking for some advice recently acquired an '85 (last owned was a "74 before kids). Doing first oil change and wondered if there is better oil to use with 95,000 miles on the car and with all the advances since '85 should I run somethign different, also now residing in Florida are the high temps a consideration?
Thanks

I switched to 10W30 Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. I think it runs better, definately cleans out the system, the first time you change it from switching over it is near black (at least mine was). After that even at 5000 miles it is pretty clean. One problem though, it is thinner then the normal stuff, and it tends to leak from valve cover seals easier. When I switched I leaked more then normal for my seals. Which when it is $4.99 retail for a quart can get expensive. I solved this problem by switching to a 160deg t-stat, which now completely ended my leaks, because the oil rarely gets to past 200 (only time I see 200+F is when I autocross near my last runs of the day).
I use Mobil 1 with everything. But in my previous 84 (90K miles) I switched to Mobil 1. I already had a little puff of smoke on startup, and when the Mobil 1 hit its system, the little puff got bigger and I started noticing some leaks around the valve covers (the stuff is just so slick). When I got my 85 (70K), it too had the small white puff on startup. I changed oil to the Valvoline Max Life Higher Mileage stuff, no more smoke. I will change the valve seals someday, but the valvoline stuff seemed to work for me...
