Anyone out there rebuilt their 700R4? I've gone thru roughly 6 trannys in 6 years all from different shops. At this point i figure i might as well be rebuilding the damn thing myself. I found a kit to do it including the shift kit for about $350 bucks, and i see theres a video to walk you thru the rebuild availible as well. Just trying to see how difficult a job this is and any little flaws to look out for. thanks
i blew mine on friday.. here the fixs.. replace all clucth pacs with cermics coated.. replaced stall converted.. install shift kits..drill oil passge holes and install larger spring..new servo...rated 650 hp or better...total cost 2000$.. you cann't do this yourself unless you have the tools....
if you get a standard rebuild kit..request thicker clucthe ring .. i think .124" thick instead of thin ones.. these will distribute heat better..do the basic mod this tranny needs.. check the tech section for these mod..i believe they are clucth pacs , servo, shifting, and increasing oil pressure and flow..
