Default Fuel Pump?

I have an 88 Coupe, and I pulled a fuse (FR) while my car was running . The car cut off and now it will not start. It will turn over but that's it. I took the battery a loose to reset the computer, but it still would not start. So I checked the fuel pump to see if it was energizing, however when I turn on the switch all I get is 3 clicks from an aluminum relay with 5 prongs underneath, this relay sits right on top of the fuel pump along with a black plastic one. I was not sure if this was normal or not, so I was thinking that I may have fried it when I pulled the fuse. I was told that Vett's were design to shut off the fuel pump in the event you had an accident. And I might can reset it. If this is true could someone please tell me how to fix it so I can bring my car home.
Thanks:mad

Geesh. Honestly I don't know (never done that before), but did you check the fuse you pulled (is it still good)? And check the rest of them as well, you might have tripped another fuse by messing with it.

By the way, when you energize the fuel pump, have someone stand by the tank with the filler-door up: you can hear/feel the pump if it turns on.

good luck

I have pulled that fuse several times to de-pressurize the system without any problems. The fuel pump relay for my 89 is under the hood to the left of the master cylinder, not sure what you're looking at on top of the pump. Once again, with reference to my 89, the fuel pump can get power from either the relay or the oil pressure switch, with the oil pressure switch acting as a backup should the relay go bad once over 4psi.

Could I have burned out my relay when I pulled the fuse? Maybe I should change it and see what happens. I don't think that I had it correct the first time, becuase the FP is sitting inside the tank I was told. The unit that I was talking about sits behind the drivers seat in the rear compartment. Also shouldn't I be able to hear my fuel pump when it is energized?

ABS brain is in compartment on driver's side. Yes FP is in tank underneath fuel door.

I, too, have had that fuse out numerous times with no problem. I just may be that your pump went bad when you pulled the fuse...can you check to see if there is pressure at the schrader valve? If there is pressure then your fuel pump may not be the problem. Something else may have gone wrong at the same time...my $.02
