Does anyone know if there is a "off side" open end wrench that will make it easier to put on/take off the oil sender and fittings on the back of the engine by the distribitor?
I just went out and looked at the one I took off a couple weeks ago. A 1/2" drive 3/4" socket will work. I used a normal length socket but didn't push it all of the way onto the ratchet. It just did clear the connector by doing it that way. The sender really isn't on there that tight. In fact, you could probably just about twist it off with your hand.

Re: Wrench size (KF9WM's 87 coupe)
I had the distributor off when putting that on. I think I tightened it mostly by hand, then finished it with a small wrench. It's like 9/16" or something close, if I recall. (if you tighten it by the stem, and not the transducer housing)
You can get more turns on it by flipping the open end wrench back and forth... by doing this you only need 30 degrees of rotation, and keep flipping the wrench around to tighten it.
Thanks to both of you Gentlemen! I tried the flipping over the open end wrench...couldn't turn it far enough. Had to use a pair of chanell locks and the wrench to get it all apart.
I went down to Orchard supply and bought a set of crows feet. All I needed was one. Had to buy the whole set. Good excuss to tell the wife to buy new tools :yesnod:
Havn't gotten to put it back together yet. Hope to do it tonight.
I think that part of my oil leak is from these fittings. I've got it on great authority(cisco kid) that aircraft RTV is what I need to get a good seal.
