I've got the Accel runners on my '85-it came with them already installed-and after driving another stock '86, my car does feel like it has a stronger mid-range. As far as I know my '85 doesn't have any other engine mods that I know of (I bought it as a repo so I don't have any history on it). Don't know if that helps but $200 sounds pretty darn reasonable. :flag
My results differed. The runners were not great, but better than the manifold. The heads (early AL) were pretty bad too; the exhaust side was awful.
Now, if you put on 1.7" diameter runners on an intake manifold that's only 1.5", you've got a .1" wall the air is flowing into and creating an eddy that tightens the effective diameter. Plus, you're feeding the 1.7" runners with a 1.5" plenum. Bolting runners on without porting would probably yield no gains or even a loss.
The good thing about the cast runners is that you can siamese them.
JayB119, you can use my dremmel to port your plenum. I did it to mine, it is real easy. I live in Hazel Park, so I'm not far. I could guide you through it. You can IM me if you are interested. :seeya :steering:
