When I hit small bumps in the road, I get a little shake in the steering wheel. I have checked out the suspension and everything seems okay. Should I be concerned. I don't have any free play in the steering. I have a small amount of play in the tilt column ( maybe 1/4 inch). Could this be the play in the column?
Re: small shake in steering wheel when hitting bumps (dmorris)
I get the exact same thing with my 89. All the suspension has just been checked.
Replaced the tires, new balancing, and an alignment. Still does the same thing.
My guess is, the body itself is so stiff, as well as the suspension, that no matter what you do, this is just one of the many "character traits" that we all have to deal with
Re: small shake in steering wheel when hitting bumps (dmorris)
Just a silly thought.....how about checking the alignment....bet its time for a complete 4 wheel job....
Find a good shop in your area that does Corvettes...
then you will get it done right....
check it out with other corvette owners in your area....
been there done that...
Good Luck

Re: small shake in steering wheel when hitting bumps (jackdaroofer)
I run my tires at 35 psi and the shocks are new. I do not have the z51 suspension. I have not had the tires ballanced or an alignment done since I've had the car (6 months). It isn't that bad, but I wanted to see what others thought before I started throwing money at a problem.
