I just redid my seats last year in pleather/vinyl (have a scar to prove it) and whadda ya know, I've found a dime-size tear in the seat already! Obviously a cut, as these are the non-perferated kind.
Anyway, what's the best fix/patch for something like this? It's in a low-stress area, so I just want to keep it from making itself bigger. Glue?
You can spend $40.00 for that or get Permatex Super-Clear Vinyl Sealant. About $3-$4 a tube. You can even sand it when it's cured. If you're going to refinish that area after the repair, use Bulldog Adhesion Promoter on the aera first, then coat with quality vinyl spray in the right color. It will never come off.
I did the above with may leather seats. Had a hole right in the middle of the bottom cushion. I repaired the leather with the sealant, sanded the area with #180 grit on a sanding block until it was smooth, redyed the seat with "Light Saddle" dye from Corvette America. When dry I repunched the perforation holes and -invisible. I have pics but I can't figure out how to post them on this forum format.
