Default 383 Stroker, heads shaved ??

Hi guys, I'm learning has I read this message board more and more about my vette. I got mine 3 years ago and had the engine rebuilt.

I know that the engine was rebuild to a 383 stroker and that the heads were shaved I also installed some Flow master Exaust mufflers and a K&N filter.

how much more HP, do you guys think I have gained ?????? and on the 1/4 mile.. how fast do you think my car would run? and how fast would my car run stock on the 1/4 mile.

Its an 1988 convertible, automatic tranny.

Thanks guys! :)

hard to say. "shaved" prolly means the compression was bumped up a little bit... but otherwise more info is needed: cam, heads (type, ported, etc), chip?

I know I have the same original heads, not sure about the Cam? do they change the Cam if the engine was rebuilt to a 383 stroker. Nothing was ported and I don't have a performance chip.

As far as I know... the engine was rebuilt with orignal parts, but was rebuilt to a 383 stroker and the head were shaved.

And yes, the compression did go up because of the head being shaved and I was told to only burn only high octane gaz because of this.. I don't know what the proper terminalogie is for "shaved" ??

decked, milled, shaved... same difference.

Hard to say on HP... maybe a mild increase over stock (stock intake is the restriction), so maybe 250HP and some extra torque?

just a guess though

I've read a lot about the air intake manifold being very restrictive.. but the car has 245 hp stock... I couldn't of gained 5 hp increase???

holy frig!, I hope more people post stuff hahaha

Thanks for the guess anyway's

As stated, milled, shaved, surfaced, all mean the same thing. How much, affects the compression ratio. BUT, since you increased the size of the swept displacement, you increased the CR with or without the "shave".
and on the 1/4 mile.. how fast do you think my car would run?
Take it to the track, and YOU tell US! Good luck, and...
