Default maf testing

I'm having some trouble, as usual :mad , with my P.O.S. '85, we are thinking that the mass airflow sensor is the culprit, is there anyway to test these units?
thanks Greg

if its not working you should have a code 34 on the trouble codes
a digital metter should show readings between
.4 Volts @ idle, 5 Volts @ Full Throttle.
a quick visual check should show
the hair thin wire inside the MAF should turn red hot for just a second or so after the key is turned off after the cars been running awhile

i thought i had a problem with my MAf and after hours and days of stress it turned out to be the connector to the MAF.

Your 85 doesn't have a burn-off relay, instead it has a burn off module behind the bread box. Test the wire first by turning ign on position ( car not running) then jumper the A and Eor F ( top row second from end) and turn ign off, wire should glow for 4 sec. To do this just set the MAF on the plenum.

mine ended up being the plug, i had to tighten up the positive connection place with a small screw driver.

i have tested my MAF and found that it glows for less than one second, the connection has been cleaned, no improvement, is the maf itself pooched?
