Have a Clutch Problem with New Engine?
Clutch won't dis-engage. Question ? I put an 87' Engine in my 84' I used the 84's Pressure plate went to back it out no dis-engagement of the clutch... Is the 1 piece seal engines pressure plate different from the 84's 2 Pc.? I thought that the diameters only were a little diferent.
10.4" vs. 10.75" but the height etc. was the same? Please help..my Car up on a rack going on 2 weeks now? Any Ideas?

With a lot of engine work on my 87 last summer, we also resurfaced the flywheel and installed a new clutch disc. Wouldn't disengage. We finally had to make a longer clutch rod.

Cajun Connection... is the system bled, is the throwout bearing correct, is the T/O release lever moving the pres plate at all?? any clutch fluid leaks? did you make any changes to the clutch assembly?

Frank I think the problem is that my mechanic may have accidentally installed something wrong because when we first fired it up he went to test drive it and the clutch pedal was as hard as the brake pedal he said standing on the pedal to force it when the slave cyl. hyd. hose burst. That tells me that something was installed improperly.. It's a new flywheel,throwout brg. & disc, and bled many,many times. There pulling the Trans. as we speek.
