Question about punching-out Corsa's

Default Question about punching-out Corsa's

As you know, the Corsa's only use 2 of the 4 exhaust tips.

What would happen if I punched out the other two for a little more volume?

Also, can anyone think of how I can make a removable piece so I could have it louder sometimes, and block it other times.

Thoughts?

I thought 2 were used at cruising and the other 2 kicked in when at WOT or when pressure was sufficient? :confused:

You can look right through a corsa muffler from inlet to outlet. That is pretty freeflowing I think. Maybe it is the smaller diameter of pipe ( stock is 2 3/4 and corsa is 2 1/2) that makes it not as loud as you would think. I am thinking of putting muffler eliminators on mine for more sound. Another member did it when he lost one of his mufflers.

One of the guys in the auto x section mentioned that all 4 tips get carbon buildup at the race track from the constant high flow rate that is supposed to open the flow to the outer tips, but when I took mine to the track, it was still only the inner two that blackened... If you want it louder all the time, remove the cats, I heard this setup and it was MUCH louder than mine...

Corsa exhaust uses all four tips. Did you think the outer 2 were dummies? Try this - have someone rev up your car while you hang out back and you tell me if they are dummies.

They aren't dummies that's for sure, if you read the paperwork that comes with tEh Corsa you will see how they work.

But in any case when you look at the mufflers and the resonator thaey are both straight thru.

I once had the muffler clamp come undone on mine and who what a difference on the sound. But they'd be loud all the time after that.

Just out of curiosity - does anyone know whether the "resonator" on the Corsa system is using the same sound cancellation techniques as the mufflers (tuned length chambers), or is it a simple straight through muffler with sound absorbing material?

I think it's a based on the Holtz resonator, it's a chamber that resonates at the same frequency as the drone, 180* out of phase and cancels noise.

Same system as the mufflers. NO "sound absorbing" materials in either.

Oh BTW, I run them on my track car without cats...I PROMISE you that they do NOT need any "punching out" to make them loud!!!
