Security System---Horn Problems-- long post-- Help
For the third time my fuse for the security system has blown, first symptom is the horn stops working, and then I notice the security light out. The fuse is the one behind the center dash panel.
My horns do not work well, I have cleaned the contacts, adjusted them etc, they will work, but don't sound right. I really hit them one day and later noticed the security light out and that fuse blown. I replaced the fuse and it worked for about a month or so.
The fuse went out again last week, I replaced it and the light and the horn once again worked.
Yesterday I thought I heard the horn sound (not a full blast but sort of a moan). When I got in the car latter on the security light was out and the horn stopped working.
I may have heard the horn try to sound a while ago, when I looked out at the car all looked normal. This may have coincided with one of the outages I don't know.
Could a poorly working/defective horn cause the Security fuse to blow? Why would the security fuse blow and not the horn fuse? Could this be caused by a bad horn relay or a bad security relay if there is one?
I have the Helms Manual, I just hope someone may have solved this problem before, and save me a lot of diagnosis time.
Thanks in advance.

1. Replacing the horns with aftermarket $12~$20 horns, since mine were rusty and old, could've been shorting stuff out.
2. Replaced the fuse AS WELL AS the horn relay. Why not, since the center IP have been taken apart already.
3. Taken the steering wheel apart, I mean APART! :D (do read the shop manual on this as well as use the right tools or you'd be having a tough time!) Take great care to inspect and clean off the parts before putting them back together. Just doubly make sure the horn button have good contact with the plate underneath.
Knock on wood, but there have never been any problem since! Good luck guys, and do take your time. :chevy
Is this the experience people have had?

Please, It's a Bit-h taking the center section off whenever I need to sound the horn, Might even be as dangerous as talking on the cell while driving.
