Get a product catalog and in which they also send you info about the procharger for your car.. I got the P600d coming .. I have read this to be a real good power maker.and heat transfer system. No D-1's for me..
What year c4 do you have? Are you using hte stock block> Do you plna on upgrading it it in the near future.
IMO Procharger vs Vortech (vortech enginner kits for 92-96) -> Procharger intercooled kits.
Prochargers and vortech units are pretty similar, similar enough that vortech sued procharger for copying their design a few years ago. I think this was settled out of court, but I didn't folow it that closely.
I personally like Carrolls Vortech kits (he uses a vortech SC, but he makes everything else) They are little more expensive, but IMO they are cleaner install, service and installation manuals. I think the procharger still may make more hp, but I haven't seen enough dyno's to back that up. This one is a toss up atleast in my books, but many people hear are running procharger set-ups. The Carroll kit use water injection and Procharger use air/air intercooler(s) for intercooling. Air to Air is more effeicent, but approx 1.5psi is lost through the tubing.
Anyways, a well tuned 10psi kit on a L98 with headers and 1.6RR's should easily make 400+rwhp with both kits (more enough to quickly destroy the stock block in a year or 2)
well i run a Procharger and it runs good and makes good power if you want good dyno pulls go to http://www.dynopro.com and click on the mile high ratings and click on corvettes and there is alot of prochargers on there and alot on the camaros and trans ams
I've seen both kits...the vortech kit appears to have better engineering than the procharger kit. The procharger kit claims more hp due to intercooling, however, have you seen their intercooler for the c4 lt1? it doesn't look very big nor does it look like there is much airflow across it...looks like it would be prone to heat soak under prolonged acceleration.
In going through this over and over I can honestly say NOBODY can give you an honest answer unless you state EXACTLY what your inevitable plans are for the car.
Do you plan on keeping the internals stock? I see you mention heads, but IMHO I'd consider just piecing together your own kit because the problem with kits is the lack of good parts. You should upgrade your injectors (1.5hr job @ ~$250) and get a new fuel pump REGARDLESS @ ~$170(www.racetronix.com) Buy the head unit, bracket, and belt separate. Go with an aftermarket intercooler. If you upgrade your heads and exhaust to lower your comp ratio you could theoretically go higher on the boost, then I wouldn't count on the stock ATI intercooler to give you enough cooling for the CFM you'll need larger than 10 PSI.
To answer the quality issue, either kit is excellent, and yes the intercooler on the procharger kit is not great, but it's better than nothing at all (like the Vortech kit) You get an intercooler with the ATI kit for about the same $$$ as the Vortech kit.
