Adjustable TPS only getting 2.7 volts at WO Throttle
I have a 95 Corvette with the LT1 engine. I just installed an adjustable TPS and I'm only getting 2.7 volts at wide open throttle. I read that I should be getting 5 volts when the throttle is wide open. Does anyone have or had a similar situation like mine where the voltage is not up to par? Is there anything I can do to get my voltage up to 5 volts?
By the way, I was using a digital volt meter...Not an analog one. Thanks!!!
Re: Adjustable TPS only getting 2.7 volts at WO Throttle (plumb95)
If the TPS is removed/replaced, adjustment may be necessary. Here's an outline of how it's done. Hope this helps!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With the throttle valve in the closed idle position, install the TPS on the TB assmbly, making sure that the TPS lever lines up with the tang on the throttle actuator lever
Install the the retainers and the TPS mounting screws.
Install three jumper wires between the TPS and the harness connector.
With the ignition turned to On, and a digital voltmeter connected to the terminals marked A and V on the connector (the top and middle terminals, adjust the TPS to obtain a reading of 0.54^0.075 volts.
Tighten the TPS mounting screws and recheck to makd sure the adjustment has not changed.
Turn the ignition OFF, remove the jumper wires and connect the wiring harness electrical connector to the TPS.
Re: Adjustable TPS only getting 2.7 volts at WO Throttle (Alchemist)
Even with the adjustable TPS in it's most extreme position, I only get around 2.7-3 Volts with a wide open throttle....I'm pusing for 5 volts, but I'm not sure what is causing it to lack in this dept.
Re: Adjustable TPS only getting 2.7 volts at WO Throttle (plumb95)
You can try several things.
-verify you have +5Vdc on the power lead.
-unplug the TPS and measure resistance between top end (+5Vdc end) and the ground end
-then move the wiper throught full range and see how close it comes to the total resistance value.
Repeat the resistance measurements on the old stock TPS.
If all looks well with the new TPS, check for binding in the throttle linkage.
:iagree:
I'd also suggest a quick removal of the TPS from the t-body & and operate it by hand w/ small flat-blade screwdriver. If the voltage then checks good pull the rubber accordian air duct and check to make sure your throttle cable is properly adjusted/opening of the t-blades.
