C5 wheels on C4

C5 wheels on C4
My91 has 9.5 wheels and the C5 fronts are 8.5. Has anyone mounted the 275x40's on the 8.5 C5 wheel? The tire listed for the C5 fronts is 245x45. I'm in a bit of a delima as to what size tire to put on the front. As expensive as they are I want to be right. The rears are easy.

Approved rim widths for 245x40x18 are 8"-9.5"
245x45x17 7.5" -9"
275x40x17 9"-11"
C5 wheels have a different offset and will sit inward more than stock C4 wheels. They will fit be they are not recommended for a reason, a good one. (handling, wear and possible safety issues)
