Just wanted to pass along some info. I was looking through the Mid America catalog and saw the shift plus switch. It said you could switch between stock or 2 different firmness settings. The catalog doesn't say, but when it came it was made by B & M, good company right? Well, it works! Cost was $70 and install time was less than 45 minutes. I switched it to number 2(firmest setting) right away and now it'll chirp 'em. Hell of a lot easier than a shift kit, and you can turn it off(although it hasn't been off since I installed it).
I used the Hypertech Programmer III to change my shift firmness on my '94, and I'm not sure if I could tell the difference. Then again, I only have the stock 2.59 rears.

It splices into 2 wires on the PCM plugs with supplied splicing clips. The wires from the switch are run through the fire wall. The install was very easy, witch was nice, because how often do we do some work on our cars that is easy. I also have the stock 2.59 rear, but as I mentioned, when the car shifts into 2nd it'll chirp 'em. I am very pleased! :)
