what is the corrective action that one should use if you switched over to the dex from the green? Also in my case the block was fresh...I guess whatever is left in the rad is the only mixing it would have seen. For me to go back to the green now, I think it would be worse....What do you think?

The only real HUGE advantage Dexcool has over green is its less toxic makeup
DexCool is about 90% ETHYLENE GLYCOL, so is the Green antifreeze. They are equally toxic.

The difference between the two is the additive package. DexCool uses organic acids ( mono and dibasic carboxylic acids) as a corrosion inhibitor, Green relays upon silicate and phosphate inhibitors.

GM changed to DexCool for extended life. Green AF needs to be flushed about every two years, DexCool can last quite a bit longer.

If you are not having any troubles, i wouldn't make the switch again.

I guess what i should have said for 'Less toxic', is that its less likely to attract animals. :blueangel:

Ok, so it doesn't taste as good as the green stuff. That alone is a good enough reason not to switch to the orange. :jester

when i bought my 93, I discovered the previous owner had switched it to dex-cool. I immediately did one heck of a flush and converted it back to green stuff. I ahvent had any waterpump or cooling system problems, luckily

There is a major class action lawsuit against GM about the use of the orange stuff. Stay away from it.

Scumbag lawyers filing frivious lawsuits doesn't make scientific fact. If Dexcool was bad, GM would have dropped it a long time ago. If these lawyers really cared, they'd quit screwing up commerce and go work at a doughnut shop.

Any thing that attracts this much attention must have something wrong with it. Besides it's easier to spot a leak with the green stuff.
