Hey all, I have a '85 coupe with a 4+3 that has been nothing but headaches for quite some time and have decided to go with a ZF-6. Is anyone knowledgeable with this conversion. I have seen the easy kits through mid-america but I have three ZF-6's readily available here and quite a bit cheaper. (I just got back from Iraq and am stationed in Germany) so I kind of take what I can get!! I would appreciate anyones help on this, I am tired of driving 70mph on the autobahn with porsches laughing at me when they should be crying!!! P.S. Anyone need a used 4+3???
Re: 4+3 conversion to ZF-6, can anyone help (ponyeater)
Hey, where are you stationed in good 'ol GErmany?? I'm in the Netherlands in Enschede, near the German border. I already have a zf for my 82 but wouldn't mind having a spare, could you email or IM me the location of the trannies and the asking prices??
As for the swap.
You can use your 4+3 flywheel
You need:
ZF tranny with the pressure plate, clutch setup, bellhousing
A mini starter or the ZF starter
ZF torque arm
ZF driveshaft
If you use a ZR1 pressure plate you'll have some more pedal travel
Be warned your clutch will chatter when disengaged (no fix since you have the 2pc rear seal crank)
