Im really worried about breaking Dana 44 drag racing. And id like to swap to a solid rearend (10bolt,12bolt or a ford 8.8) setup in a 85 corvette. I have a ls1 swap in it and im in the 650 rwhp range on nitrous with approx same rwtq.
It costs $3-400 for upgraded halfshafts, $4-600 upgraded spindles and then you still risk having the case break etc.
I dont have the fabrication skills to do this but im looking for info or ideas on where i can get the parts. Mackey was posting about a prototype 8.8 solid rear they built for his car, what ever happened with that?
What all would I need. I have a extra 8.8 5-lug mustang rearend from mustang rp...with moser axles, c-clip eliminators, eaton posi, 3.73 geared that id like to put it in.
What all do i need to get this in the car??? I think selling my dana 44 would pay for most of the swap. I dont want to go ford 9" because the size and fit is alot more difficult and a 8.8 ford rear has MANY people running in the 8 second 1/4 mile range with 1.2-1.3 60 fts.
I'm not sure but one of the guys over at Cartek had that modification done to his 85 you might wanna give them a call. They are posted as one of the advertisers. What's a fully built Dana 44 cost and how much will it handle?

Re: Solid Axle C4 swap?? Available (CORKVETTE1)
Ya, he seemed like an OK guy, I guess he got caught up in the wrong stuff.
The project was very doable and was almost ready to put in my car, and as we know the rest is HISTORY
