2 Questions that I need help on ASAP as I MUST get this thing back together tonight.
1. How much torque am I supposed to use on the bolts holding on the water pump?
2. This is a big one.. No pictures to help me.. but my old water pump had 4 connections for hoses. 1 in from radiator 1 out to radiator and 1 in from heater core and 1 out to heater core. PROBLEM my new pump has 5 connections!!!!! What do I do with that extra one? it has all the connections of the old pump Plus one additional one in between the Return to the radiator and the Water Tempeture sensor. What is it for? Can I plug it? How?
I thank you much for a quick responce!
p.s. I didn't even notic it untill i was starting to tighten the bolts and was thinking I don't remember hitting my wrench here.. WTF?? :nonod:
Re: 94 NEED HELP FAST Water Pump Question. (meliudaj)
FYI I found the torque specs on my own (figured out how to read the haynes manual.)
But still very confused on the pump.. all the pictures in the manual show the type of pump I just got... but doesn't show where that hose goes... and no where do I see a pump like I used to have.

Was there a plug in your old water pump that you were supposed to take out and put in your new one? Old small block Chevy's used to have varying plumbing set-ups for heater hoses and you moved the plugs and pipes around to fit a particular model. Bob

God damn it!!!!! I just got off the phone with the Dealer. (Jason @ Sam Taylor Buick Cadillac in Ft. Walton Beach, FL)
Apperently this is the pump for the LT1 in the F body Firebird!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad :banghead: Any way this might be digging into the knowlege base a little bit. But does anyone know What that hose is supposed to go to on the other car? Is it high pressure? My idea is to put a very short peace of hose onto it with a pult screwed into the other end of the hose it a good does of RTV, and about 4 hose clamps to plug it. Do you think that would work?

My advice -- go down to the local auto parts store and buy a water pump from them, then send back the incorrect pump for a refund. I thought the waterpumps were the same for F and Y bodys  ...

No doubt that your advice is the most correct. 2 problems though, its like $270 for it localy (mine was $135) And they don't have them in stock anywhere in town here of course!
Plus I think if I can just find out what that hose is going to, I don't think plugging it will be a bad or hard thing at all! Might even been a pretty good way to get around the Corvette Tax.
Re: 94 NEED HELP FAST Water Pump Question. (meliudaj)
My local O'Reilly Auto did not have one in stock either, but it took them 1/2 day to get one and it cost around $150 with a lifetime warranty. So, it might be worth a try to call around and ask how long it will take to get one in from the warehouse or from another auto parts shop.
