Difficulties with my C4.....
Ever since I purchased my 88' 35th Anniversary there has been hesitation with the engine. When I'm in park and I give it gas it makes a sucking noise before the engine rev's up, when I'm in drive and I lay on it, it does the same thing until it goes out to full throttle. I asked my brother what this could be and he said probably a vacuum leak, if thats what it is how do I fix this? If thats not it what is it and how do I fix it? Often a vacuum leak will cause a rough or surging idle. Inspect the vacuum lines along the left inner fender well, under the TB and on it's right side and those to the rear of the plenum on both sides.
Check out base ignition timing; it should be 6deg BTDC.
Pull the spark plugs and inspect gap and general condition.
