Default Single Mass Conversion

Whew!! Finally had enough time to finish the conversion ( F body flywheel, disk and Corvette p/plate ) My transmission was always noisy and it doesn't appear to be worse. The thing is as smooth as silk and no vibration to 5,000 rpm. Didn't see any reason to go any higher. Love the Ripper which I installed at this time also. Just thought I'd share my delight

If I remember correctly, the dm weighed 38 lbs and the sm weighed 19 lbs after I had it cut.

How much material did you have removed? And did you need to use a special fork pivot?

(And what year C4 do you have???)

Rich, the car is a 91. Had .090 removed for $ 24.00. I replaced the ball stud and fork to be on the safe side, also replaced engine rear main and front and rear seal in the transmission. The only problem I had, was with the release bearing. The release bearing comes with the pressure plate and GM updated my p/plate to the most current production. I think GM made a transmission change mid 92, so if your car is 92 1/2 or newer you'll be ok. Otherwise the release bearing will have to be changed to the earlier style. The newer style release bearing won't fit over the front bearing retainer on the transmission. Hope this helps

Whatever you do, DON'T HEAT IT!!!

There are two big locating studs on the sides; try gently hammering (:D ) each side (preferably with a deadened mallet) until you can get a prybar (OK, a screwdriver) between the joint and pry it off...
