Default I.D. Help please (pictures)

Hello everyone,

I took a ton of pictures before starting this project. Still, I feel like I've about F'd this project all the way up. As another fellow forum member mentioned, maybe I should have had a camcorder rolling footage as I was taking things apart and this wouldn't have been a a problem.

It's now been too long since I took some of this off and I can't find any pictures that are relevant to what I'm looking for. The wires that I have ID's successfully I tagged (but didn't at first because this was SUPPOSED to be a two day project).

Here goes, and I'm grateful to you who can help me.

Most pictures can be clicked on to get a bigger version
[b]
Picture1: These both plug into the back of the SuperRam I think. Just not sure which goes on the drivers side and which on the passenger's side or even if it matters.

Picture2: This comes from that big ball-canister looking thing next to the driver's side headlight. Not sure what this plugs into.

Picture3: I have looked and looked and cannot find the other end of this little guy:

Picture4: Here is a mess of wires that come off the fuel injector lines on the Driver's side. You would think there should be obvious places for these to go but I'm coming up empty for looking and looking. The one that is circled in blue I was able to find went to the Mass Air Flow.

Picture5: Another look at the same bunch of wires

Picture6: Found this next to the firewall. It doesn't go into the motor for the windshield washers, that's a two pronged connector. Ideas?

Picture7: I thought I would throw this one out there. I see it, there is nothing plugged into it, and goodness knows what should be ;)

Picture8: Where do these go? They should look really familiar to someone!

Picture9: This as to do with the EGR system, right? What does it plug into?

As always, thanks in advance, you guys are always great. I really appreciate the help!!!! More than you know.

Cheers,
Shayne

#7 goes to the bottom of the TB. I think alot of the other connectors go to the Air Pump crap, Throttle pos., Maf, Temp sensor on the front of the intake manifold. I'll try to look closer and figue whats what.

Don't panic. Once you have everything together it will make more sense. Also try to see how the wires are bent. When you start to plug the harness in, they will almost fall into place.

#3 looks like the coolant temp sensor that is under the throttle body on the intake manifold.

Ok this will be lengthy :

Picture 2 : That connects via a VacuuM Dampner valve to your ThrottleBody AND the PCV Valve on the Valve Cover AND the Lower Intake port between the driver's side runners.

Picture 3 : That's the connector to the MAT sensor plugged into the Plenum. (stock or superram, etc.. etc..)

Picture 4 and 5 : Those connectors are the MAF, Cold Start Valve on/off, and two having to do with the AIR system/AIR pump. I took all those off my car.

Picture 6 : I think, that SHOULD go into your wiper motor. Remember it has two connectors in it. Mine has both just like yours.

Picture 7 : That plugs into the nipple under your ThrottleBody, and the other open end into the Vacuum Dampner. (See Pic 2)

Picture 8 : One end is the Tri connector that attaches to your ThrottleBody (See pic 7), and the other to your EGR valve.

Just FYI I am remembering this info form my engine, which is an '85..

Good luck..

Default REALLY close now. Your help is amazing. UPDATE

OK, here's an update!

I decided to leave the valve covers on backwards. When I tried to pull one of the connectors out, I could tell I wasn't going to be able to get it out without snapping it. The other was easy but not worth it. So they are staying.

I have found everything except two things. One Picture 3:

I have a MAF system on my '85, so this thing had better not plug in somewhere that I have already siliconed down or I will cry. I couldn't find it on the coolant temperature sensor either. As for the the EGR valve, it's not for that I don't think because that vacuum hose plugs into it, and then on the other end of that valve there is a single round connector that plugs into it.

Ideas?

The other is the little flat piece in Picture 8 will actually end up and if there is anything else that is supposed to plug into it besides the two connectors that are already in it.
Picture 8

Real close now! Then we'll start putting the upper plenum on (after laying the cable on top of the plenum of course :D)
Cheers,
Shayne

Default More info on Mystery Connector

Maybe this thing hasn't ever been hooked up, who knows. I took another photo to get closer to where this wire is. With this new photo, does it shed any more light on what this connector goes to?

It's like this thing is an extension connector to something else entirely. I drew two little lines to where the connector connects to further down the firewall and the part that is circled is the other end and what is in question.

Thanks again,
Shayne

No3 does look like the connector for the intake air temperature sensor ( which mounts in the bottom of the stock TPI plenum)

If you do not have the original sensor, go to Pep Boys and buy a new IAT sensor for $15.00, a 6' section of two conductor wire, wire wrap to put around the wire and re-locate the new sensor into the air inlet box where the air filter is (this is commonly referred to as a IAT relocation kit, but the one sold by Ecklers is $30)

I can't believe it :mad :mad :mad No sooner did I finish taking the blue towels out of the runner holes when a bolt fell out of my hand and guess where it went. Runner hole #8.

What do I need to do to get it out? I'm sure it's extensive. I'm not kidding, I'm all done, except bolting on the cover. This sucks. [edit] On purpose, I dropped two more down there to see if I could tell how far they fall when they do and where they drop to. I used and ruined a couple of those long magnet wands fishing around down there to no avail. If someone would be so kind, could you use paint or something and draw me a diagram of what it might look like from the top of that thing down to the bottom? [edit]

That looks like the IAT. It plugs in to the bottom side of the plenum.

The plastic piece with two hard lines going into it bolts up by the egr solenoid. ( I have to remove it when accessing the distributor hold down bolt)

As far as the other stuff.. I'd have to say RTFM! :D Or perhaps buy another '85 and keep it stock, to use as a reference.

Pic 3 is the egr connector, you won't find any thing to plug it into, because I can see from your picture the egr pipe has been removed and the hole in the intake manifold blanked off. Originally there was a tube going from that hole to your header , with a sensor in it for your plug.

One of the two in that last picture is the IAT sensor on the bottom of the plenum. I told you to plug that in before you put the plenum on. ;) Its ok though you can still get it on, its just a little harder. The other one looks like the EGR solenoid connector. I plug mine in even though I'm not using my EGR.

There was no external egr tube in 85. ;)

Ouch...that sucks dropping a bolt in. Looks like time to pull the runners back off. Hope it didnt fall into an open intake valve.
