How to properly install/adjust door jam switch?
My old door jam switch on the driver's side was acting up, not always tripping to closed when I closed the door, which is a real PITA with PKE. So, I blew $2.00 over at the Chevy dealer and bought a new switch. Changed the two out, no big deal, looked in my '96 Corvette shop manual and there were no instructions for adjustment, etc so I just installed it and shut the door. Well, now this one doesn't want to indicate "open" when the door is open. Also a PITA with PKE and leaves the radio on after you get out unless you open the passenger door (that switch works).
So, did I do something wrong? Is there an adjustment that I should have made? Can I still adjust it or have I ruined this switch?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

This switch, called a "Door Ajar Indicator Switch", has no adjustment (at least on my 95). The Service Manual does not mention adjustment either: just bolt in the replacement.
If the door is aligned properly at the B Pillar, (ie, the panels are flush), the switch should work fine.
I don't know why your new switch should have failed so quickly.
Sorry I could not help more.

Does it work properly when you push it in with your finger? My 85 with 127k had a wear spot in the fiberglass on the door so the switch didn't close with door shut
