Default Passive keyless entry questions

I recently bought my 94 from the original owner who did not keep the owners
manual. The previous owner was not a "car guy" and had no clue how to get
the light on the dash to turn off, but he did say after I replaced the battery in
the remote there was a sequence to follow to turn off the light. I have an owners manual on order, but I would really like to get the annoying light off.
Can anyone help?

The following is verbatim from the factory manual:
The Passive Keyless Entry System allows up to three transmitters to be matched to your Corvette.....
To Engage the programming mode:
1. Move all transmitters out of range.
2. Turn the ignition key on.
3. Press the TRIP ODO button on theDriver Information Center twice.
4. Within five seconds press and hold the FUEL INFO button untill the the PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY LIGHT comes on and stays on. (this is where I think you are.)
5. Turn the ignition key off but leave the key in the ignition.
The PKE light should flash once per second signaling that it is ready to program the first transmitter. (and so on after each transmitter has been programmed.)
PROGRAMMING A TRANSMITTER
1. Bring a transmitter into range.
2. The PKE light will come on and stay on, signaling that the code has been stored.
3. Move the transmitter out of range. (six feet should do it.) thesystem light will flash again and is ready for the next transmitter.
4. Remove the key from the ignition to shut off the programming mode.
You can turn the PKE off by taking the keys out of the ignition and hold the door button down for longer than 2 seconds.
To turn the system on, simply repeat the above.
If you have a problem or need further help just give a shout
