ECM connector check
I am trying to backtrace wires to the ECM because I am getting codes out the yingyang. Hard to believe they are all legit and want to know if I can check for sensor voltage and grounds at the ECM connectors with the connectors plugged in and the ignition on and/or car running. I have no voltage at the Coolant Temp Sensor and car reads continuous code 14. Sensor is new and is Ohm measurement is right on target (one example).

Year model is 1986. The battery is 9 months old (may be time to replace) and drops voltage quickly from 11.9 or so to 11.3 (cooling fan is activated by ECM as it detects high coolant temp, even though there is no voltage to sensor). Alternator throws voltage of 13.9 to 14.3 most of the time around town. Thought I might check output at the ECM terminal to see if there are any signals being sent. Also would like to see if ground is good from ECM at each plug (black wire with white trim on ends, right?)
