Default Help Please T-trim only making 5lbs Boost

Need some help.
Ive got a Vortech T-trim that is only making about 5lbs boost at what I believe is full impeller speed.
I've got a 7.6 crank pulley and a 2.75 supercharger pulley.
This should give me 57000rpm at the charger impeller for 6000rpm engine speed.
This is already over the max rpm for the supercharger.
The engine is a 396 stroker.
Anyone ever heard of the T-trim making such low boost?
I was expecting about 22lbs.
Any ideas why I'm not making boost?
Also it's been on a dyno 400hp 480ft/lb
Pretty pathetic for all the time and money invested.
Thanks
John

HHMMMM i can only think of belt slippage? i mean i dont know that specifics of the Vortech blowers but i would think it would make good boost? i know i have a 7" crank pulley and a 3.7 blower pulley and i am making 11#'s of boost but that is on a ATI D-1? So either the belt is slipping or the blower is not doing its job but i would think it is the belt? could be wrong but i thought i woudl try to help you out :D

My tuner who has the car claims no leaks or slippage.
Do the ATI superchargers have different internal gearing or something that enables them to spin faster for more boost?
When I did my research 1 1/2 years ago ATI was considered junk.
This might be my way out if it turnes out nothing is wrong physically.

ATI junk..... :lolg: that is a good one!

ok max air flow
Vortech V-1 T Trim:Maximum airflow: 1,200 CFM *
Procharger D-1: Maximum airflow :1,400 CFM

Max HP out of blower
Vortech V-1 T Trim : Fits engines up to 825 horsepower
Procharger D-1: Max Supercharged HP 925

Maximum boost pressure:
Vortech V-1 T Trim: Maximum boost pressure 26 PSI *
Procharger D-1:Max Boost (psi) 32

Max impeller speed:
Vortech V-1 Trim:Maximum impeller speed: 55,000 RPM
Procharger D-1:Max Impeller RPM 65,000

Impeller gears
Vortech V-1 Trim: no information?
Procharger D-1: Internal Step-up 4.44:1

So all in all i think the blower you have is ATI's Smallest blower the P1 or AKA p600b :lolg: i dont mean to laugh but for the money i would of got a D-1 or even better the F-1! :D

I'm with you but a year and a half ago when I bought it there wasnt much info on ATI out there.
I just printed out ATI's model list.
Are the dimensions of the cases all the same from the P600B to the F1?
They appear to be the same.
I'm wondering if I can bolt in a F1 to the existing brackets?

Unless the SC is NG, It has to have a leak or slippage.

I cant find any info on the physical case dimensions but the inlet outlet diameters all seem to be the same.
Anyone know where to find case dimensions at for ATI?

John, call Kevin at http://www.forcefedperformance.com He has a 383 with an F1 on it and it's pretty serious. I would tackle the belt slippage issue which is what it really sounds like it is. You can't just bolt on an F1 or D1 with a standard rib pulley and expect 22lbs of boost. It probably won't happen.

I'm pretty sure its not slippage.
I've got an 8 rib pulley setup from ASP.
But then I'm not there with the car.

Could one of your rubber intake tubes be getting squished or distorted due to the boost?

Here are the basics to check. Believe me when I say BASICS! But check anyway.

If this works, buy me a beer when I'm in Cleveland.
Disconnect the air intake tube from the supercharger and make a dyno run. I'm willing to bet your not drawing enough air through the Vortech intake tube to feed the supercharger. Also, you might max out at 15lbs boost when every thing is working right. If I'm correct you'll have to fabricate a 4" air intake to feed the supercharger.

Not sure what your problem is but the vortech will make a lot more power than that. There has to be a restriction or the belt is slipping. Just because you have a 8 rib don't mean it can't slip maybe the belt he put on is too long and the tensioner can't get it tight enough. Something is wrong and your man is not finding it.

I'm gonna have to have him check out the air restriction ideas.

I asked him if he could bypass the intercooler.
Hes not sure without a lot of fabrication if it could be done.

I like the idea of pulling the intake tubing simple at least.

He's still saying no slip, No dust or any other signs of slippage.
Tensioner is tight I put the belt on.

Hey RVY
How much Boost are you making with your Ttrim and what pulleys are you using?

I had the ATI D1SC and it would only make about 6 psi...all belt slip! Converted to 8-rib setup and kept the 3.4" blower pullie and increased crank pullie to 7.6" and made 18 psi of boost bypassing the intercooler (12 psi going through the intercooler...on a 383 cid w/high flow heads). The 6-rib belts just can't hold that much load. As vvv90 said, call Keith at http://www.forcedfedperformance.com He's coming out with a cog setup for the LTx based vettes.

The tuners gonna try tommorrow with the intake ductwork off the thinking is there could be a restriction in the tubing or filter somewhere.
I'm gonna mention the Mondo valve when I talk to him.

He is gonna talk to Vortech to see if the Ttrim is maxed out but I'm not getting that feeling here from the guys that have Ttrim's.

Unless something is physically wrong with the supercharger?

I'm just keeping all my options open by lookin at the ATI.
It seems the guys here are high on the ATI.
The Camaro forum guys seem to like the Vortech better.
Whatever would work better. Seems though that the Vortech should be making the boost from the guys that actually have Ttrim's.
