Default How to cool down my oil?

My oil for some reason is starting to get hot.
While cruising it will get to about 210-217.
If I get on it from there it will run up to 230 and stay there for at least 15-20 minutes of cruising to cool back down.

While at the beach I was stuck on the strip a couple of times and the oil reached temps of 240-252 degrees.

This is just the oil. The coolant/water temp stays at 200-210 while cruising. And about 220 stop and go.

You could get an oil cooler or run better oil. I assume you're running Mobil 1? I just switched from that to amsoil in my ZR1 (has a factory 6 row oil cooler too). I was trying to reduce oil temps at the road race. Since I have a '91 model I can't say exactly how much lower they were, but the gauge went from 1/2 to 2/3 of the way up to about 1/3 of the way up with the amsoil. Ambient temps were 95 in the shade; heat index was well into the 100's; 20 minute session on a road course.

All of that being said 240 is not really too hot for synthetic. You don't need to worry until 260-280; even then you're not going to damage anything, just don't let it get hotter

I'm using Mobil 1 5w-30.
Just replaced it like 500 miles ago.

Also I don't think LT1s came with oil coolers (at least 92's it wasn;t an option.)

first, your oil NEEDS to get to 213 degees MINIMUM before it can burn off water vapor from the engines, MOST synthetic oil WORKS AT ITS BEST in the 230deg-245deg range as far as lubracation and deposite removal goes. SYNTHETIC oil has no problems at temps up to about 260 degrees even long term but MINERAL oil can start to break down at temps above 250 degrees
heres a cheap little item that really works!

it drops my oil temps about 10 degrees

I use puralator pure 1 filters or mobile 1 filters and mobile 1 synthetic oil 90%-95% and 10%-5% marvel mystery oil. ALL APPLICATIONS, read this http://www.fernblatt.com/longhurst/engineoil_bible.html http://www.melling.com/engoil.html

if you tend to change oil only once or twice a year than synthetic oil holds a slight advantage and Id use it anyway simply for its greater heat tollerance!

If you havent cleaned off that radiator, do so.
Preferably, youd do a coolant flush and at least replace the thermostat with a new one.
Lowering the coolant will lower the oil temp, but its always gonna be 10-15F hotter than coolant.

LT1's had no oil coolers, but you can install one in front of the radiator.
