Re: SuperRam on! Now running terrible! (sspackman)
If you go through all of the good advice that has been provided and you still have the problem there may be one other thing to check. Now I'm not sure how the super ram runners are set up but here is what I accidently did with the stock runners.
I swapped the runners from right to left by accident when replacing the runners. This placed the EGR block off on the wrong side of the plenum. The car would barely run. I had to rev it up just to keep it running and when I let off it would die. Once I put the runners back on the proper sides everything was wonderful. This was on my 89 Firebird not a Vette but I'm assuming that it's the same.
One other thing that may or may not be of any use. I have some Diacom data that I have posted up here (virus free, I promise). That is, for the short time that I could keep it running, and you will see that I nearly had to have it floored in order to work. However at the higher RPM's it was running. Does that indicate that the wiring is probably right?
Re: SuperRam on! Now running terrible! (sspackman)
I am not discounting all the vacuum leak advice, but if it won't run at all with the esc disconnected, something is wrong with the distributor installation. Also, triple check the plug wire routing for the proper firing order.

RACE ON!!!
I've only run brief periods with the ECS disconnected only in idle to set my timing at 6*. As for the vacuum, spraying carb spray in that area and having the RPM's go way up is a pretty telling factor. At least, I don't know what else that could tell. :D

Maybe stupid??? But did you check fuel pressure...and the fuel pump....and the fuel filter....
Just my thoughts....
Anyway.................
Good Luck

Re: SuperRam on! Now running terrible! (sspackman)
I had EXACTLY the same problems you're describing. The solution is as mentioned elsewhere:
1. distributor one tooth CCW
2. the runners had a SERIOUS vacuum leak. most likely the bolts that hold the slotted ends to the bottom of the manifold. On the 350, I removed four exhaust rockers to get good access to those bolts (actually allen capscrews) On the 383, I used a good swivelhead allen wrench.
Quote from gearhead friend watching my motor jump pop and gurgle:
"Man, it take a LOT of F*ckup to get a smallblock to run THAT bad!
I agree with Beach Bum
I think the distributor off a tooth (or even out by 180º) is the most likely.
Do this....pull all spark plugs so the motor is easy to turn over by hand (by ratchet or breaker bar on crankshaft bolt.) Now, remove the distributor cap and mark a line on the bottom half of the distributor where No.1 spark plug wire position is.
Next you place your finger/thumb over the No.1 spark plug hole while your helper slowly turns the crankshaft in the normal rotation direction (clockwise when looking at the motor from the front of the car). When you feel air pressure forcing out past your finger from the No.1 cylinder, stop turning when the timing mark lines up to zero degrees.
Now, you are at TDC of the compression stroke on No.1 cylinder. Make sure the distributor rotor is directly on the mark you made where the No.1 spark plug wire terminal is, and you should have no problems from this point with timing.
