Default How much boost w/o needing a intercooler?

How much boost can be run w/o adding a intercooler?

I am thinking 7 psi at the most?

I see Procharger has a 350Z package and it runs 7psi w/o a intercooler.

If you look at the intake and the location of the air filter, it appears to get fresh cold air which proabbly contirbutes to the 7psi non intercooled unit.

Only problem with the C4 is the air filter sits over the header for the L98 model.

Has alot to do with the engine's compression ratio. 8.5 cr can take alot of boost without going to an intercooler. 10 + like alot of modern factory engines usually can't handle much more than 6-8psi with out some sort of intercooling.

:iagree:

Detonation is cause by excess heat. I just checked and the 350Z is a 10.3:1 comp motor. I wouldn't want to run any more than 7psi on that thing.

Nowadays with all the "Black Box" technology. I'd NEVER blow a warrantied motor :U
