Accel 300+ Ignition: problematic?
Jeg's was very cooperative and is sending me a postage paid return label, I just wanted to see if this is representative of the Accel units and the aftermarket ignition units as a whole?
After he gave it to me, I repaired it (since I have an electronics background, it wasn't difficult). After replacing the bad components, I sprayed the board with Conformal coating, which is intended to make it water proof. I also sealed the wiring and grommet with RTV. I tried it for a couple of days, and I simply don't like it. It is just something else to go wrong. It is on the shelf of my parts cabinet.
Oh, by the way, the Accel adds say it is water proof.....yeah.

In addition, it is very prone to failure with respect to water getting near it. It's not waterproof. I also sprayed the internals of mine similarly to the other post in this thread. It worked great for me for those 4 years. I did not appreciate the noise it made, but they made a noise suppression kit that you could add to the 300+ to quiet the ticking noises it made. I never bought that myself.
I know that many on this board (outside of the SuperRam) are not big Accel fans. I see tons of bad postings on the injectors and other pieces parts, but I've generally had really good luck with the Accel stuff.
