I just finished installing long tube headers, a new knock sensor and a 160 degree thermostat and now while hitting small bumps in the road the car will sort of stall and the check engine light will flash and then go out. This problem only seems to occur when the car is hot. I've been told that it may be the knock sensor or the ECM but i have no idea as to what this could be. Any ideas!
There aren't any wires touching or even close to the headers and all connections seem to be tight. This starting happening after i replaced the knock sensor so i first thought it may be a bad knock sensor so i unpluged it and the same thing still happens. I also don't get any codes.
yep all i get is the code 12 nothing else. When the SES light comes on it (TTT) if flashes really quick and doesn't stay lit. So i don't think it's storing a code.
I believe the one i put in was a delco unit from GM. Is it possible i could have gotten a bad sensor? But then again why would it still occur when i unpluged it?
Why did you replce it in the first place? If the problem was there with the old one and new one? You might have issues else where. all That sensor does is tell the ecm to pull timing when it pick up a knock.
Well, when i bought the car it didn't have one and under heavy acceleration it would hessistate and then go. I also got a knock sensor code so i decided to put one in. It fixed the hessistation problem but now it been doing this. So i have no clue as to what it could be.
I don't know either and i too have run out of ideas. Thanks for your help! I hope it's something simple that i've overlooked but i seriously doubt it. Hopefully someone else may have had the same problem and could chime in, but thanks again.

sound like u have done just about everythiing except reboot (disconnect power) the ecm. try that first, if it improves good if not i think u may have to replace the ECM!
this occured with my car as well, the 87, i finally replaced it.......
