Ok I just got off the phone with an engine sales man and this is what he has for me. A 300HP and 363 lbs ft engine and here are the specs
duration of cam is from .280-.290
cam lift is from .443-.465
Pistons are Hypertech and are flat top
9.1 compression
heads are 76cc chambers and not sure if alum or cast iron.
This is all the info he had on them now, So does this sound like a strong engine and will the crossfire work on it with the Xram or will i need to take a step up to keep as much as the 300 as possible any comments thanks
what kind of money is he asking for this 300 HP engine? x ram should work ok, but you should upgrade to a LT1 fuel pump and update the fuel lines to handle the added volume of fuel. Stock 84 pump about 13 lbs, LT1 pump about 45 lbs of pressure. Also help out the exhaust. You should add a good set up headers, a hi flow cat and a good cat back exhaust system.
Its a company called Jasper, and the engine is 2300 with a 3 year 30000 year parts and labor war. I am going to try and get power effects exhaust later on and some headers. I was thinking about getting them along with the engine but if I need to change the fuel pump and the fuel lines I may not have the money for the exhaust now. So does the specs sound pretty good, and with the fuel pump and the fuel lines and the Xram and the engine what do u think I will have for HP and TOR? Will I be close to the 300 HP and 363TOR area?
Jasper is a good company. Probably can't go wrong with buying one of their engines. As for actually realizing those numbers; remember that advertised HP/Tor numbers are generated from their own testing. You might want to ask him under what conditions those numbers were generated? Was the engine on a dyno? What induction system was used for those tests (cfm, fuel pressure)? What exhaust system was used for those tests(open headers, mufflers)? Give him your application and ask him what sort of numbers you can reasonably expect?
The exact output will vary proably lower by 10% in your application but rest assured its a good product. I have sold and installed alot of thier engines and transmissions they are a great company to deal with. Quality control is very high as is thier customer service. They have long history in racing engines, auto and marine. They know what they are doing give them as much information as you can of what you have what you can do now and what you really will be doing later it they will beable to advise you and adjust thier product to properly meet your needs.
