Does anyone know of a replacement blower for the Corvette that will actually make the air have some velocity to it? My car on high feels like my friends Accord on low. The blower in that Honda is outrageous. I would like a little more pep out of the A/C system now. The car goes fast enough. ;)
I guess you beat me to this question. Do you have the manual A/C or the stinking electric A/C? I am used to a blower with low, med, hi, and blow your butt into the backseat. But with this electric A/C the 10 setting is about like low in my truck. My question, is this normal? And then, if not, I hope someone answers your question.
Along the same line of questions, occationally, my A/C will blow hot and out of the heater vents. It usually lasts less than 2 mins. but when it is 90+ outside, I really don't want to roast inside the car. Anyone else have this type of problem?
It just doesn't have enough umph! There is a difference felt between settings 8-9-10. But you almost fool yourself into thinking that there is no difference. I think I am going to go out there and take the blower off and see if there are any surprises in there. Use the same thought as the radiator cavity. The car is 12 years old now.
Weird, my 96 CE will Freeze your Buns Off! (Electric type)
It will get so cold (and I'm in San Antonio) you can't take it!
It blows with good force on 10.
The only problem I ever had with it was fixed with 5 bucks. A small black plastic vacuum switch under the passenger side Fuel Rail was busted and causing it not to blow from the correct vent and wouldn't alow it to blow hard. I discovered it one day while detailing my engine. Replaced it and now I could store raw meat in that car with the AC on. :flag
The passageway could be full of junk; but generally because the evaporator has been leaking and the foam filter that was covering the inlet side has now disintigrated and is plugging the core. If the blower is any stronger with the heat on, suspect a plugged evaporator core. The duct work is also sealed with foam and if the foam seals are gone, some of the air is now cooling the electronics behind the dash (noticed any foam blowing out of the vents lately?) Make sure the blower is getting a full 12 volts first. Unplug the harness at the motor and jumper it to the battery. Purple is hot and black is ground. If it blows any stronger, either the dash signal to the module/amplifier is bad, the module/amp is bad, or it could even be the blower itself (though when these motors get weak, they usually suck enough amps to melt the harness at the blower connector). I don't have my manual handy, but the high or "10" signal from the dash is like 6 volts and the module boosts this to a 12 volt output for full blower, so you could simply check for 12 volts at the blower harness with a DVM to troubleshoot this.
I think it was Scorp who posted a tech tip on cleaning the evaparator, it’s a good post with plenty of pics.
I’ll add that to my list of jobs.
I don’t need an 11 I need a 20 !
Yes, I too have hot air for 2 mins if I re-start after parking. Interestingly I have diconnected the heater hose as we never need the heater here in Cairns. I did that to help the aircon work it’s best, so the hot air must be coming from the engine bay. Maybe the door is not closing fast enough or maybe it opens when ignition is off allowing warm air to enter compartment.
I think I know what you mean as it is the same thing I am looking for....
An A/C BLOWER with more CFM.....
Thats the same question I've been asking......
I think someone said a Caprice or something like that.....
Oh well will keep looking....
Good Luck

I popped the blower motor out and it was pretty clean in there, It was missing one screw. I put a screw in place and am trying to convince myself that it is blowing harder  .
I will have to look into the Caprice blower. What should the voltage read when set to 10?
