Default What is it ?

I’m fixing my C68 Climate Control and was told that the ECM module would be under the climate control (car is converted to RHD, nothing is where it should be).

I saw one once so know it is a metal box about 8x6 inches. It doesn’t seem to be where I was told, but there is this fitting -

The arrow points to an electrical connection that has two wires – blue and white. I’ve searched the manual but can’t work out what it is.

Is this to do with the transmission ?

(Modified because I forgot to include the picture and also to say 1988 auto)

if u are looking for the ecm..it is just below and behind the air bag in front of the heat core passenger side. remove the kick panel and u will find it thr!! NOW THIS IS FOR A LEFT HAND DRIVE....maybe check the right passenger side???;)

what the blue and white wires in your photo "could be for antenna actuation".. i think.... good luck

hey S'NUT.. any jobs down thr.. i have big knife...

Not sure about yours due to the conversion, but on my '88 lefthand drive, it's under the passenger kickpanel. I've had the center portion of the dash apart, and there is only the climate control, radio, DIC, and some fuses and flashers. Good luck with your search

Thanks JCAIRE2, I’ve had all the passenger side apart and it wasn’t there but maybe the convertors have left it in it’s RH side position.

I want to find it because I have a diagnostic program on a laptop which is not receiving data from the ALDL plug (which does works with the paperclip and flashing light method.)

When I get time I’ll trace the wires from this plug.

Sorry vettehead but I recon it’s you lot that are upside down, and vette50 – ‘Crickey !’ did you know we send all the crazies to you ? It keeps our place nice and peaceful.

BTW Steve Irwin was chasing a giant cockroach across a football field at half time last night….crickey ….crickey…crickey…..isn’t he beeeooooootiful ! (etc) – don’t tell me that bloke’s not one sandwich short of a picnic !

I didn't even think about it when I posted yesterday, but the right hand drive conversion I think the steering column goes through the area where the heater core and the ecm would be located. This just occurred to me after I re-read the post. Maybe they put them under the seat? The bottom seat cushions are easy enough to pop off, couldn't hurt to look.

On the front of the seat is a wire that clips over the seat frame, you might need a screwdriver for leverage. Slip the wire down over the retainer and pull up on the seat cushion, should come right off. Good luck, it must be like an easter egg hunt with a converted car.

Not under the seat, I recently took the seats out and got them recovered – not much room under there for anything !

The heater is on the LH Side and upside down, Master Brake Cylinder on RH Side – it’s no wonder I can’t find anything.

I’ve looked throught the manual and think that the part could be the “Lateral Acceleration Switch” although the wires should be Blue and Grey/Black.

Anyone have some thoughts on that ?
