I haven't done one of these on a Corvette yet, but I have done a couple of 700R4's in other vehicles. You have to pull the pan and remove the shaft from the case. If you don't mind getting really dirty and aren't afraid to open up the tranny, go ahead and do it. The seals are only a couple of bucks. The exhaust shouldn't be that big of deal - just make sure to soak all the bolts a few days in advance with penetrating oil. I would probably attempt it myself, but then again I'm a glutton for punishment.

Had my outside shifter shaft seal changed, still leaked. Than tranny was rebuilt after it exploded, still leaks a little little bit not sure where comimg from going back in next week for state inspection and to have that checked.
