Default Regular gas in an LT4

My brother borrowed my 96 while I visited my girlfriend in Jacksonville and he put 10$ worth of regular in it. He topped it off with premium, but I was wondering how this would effect the car. Should I just let it run out or what. Thanks for the info.

Just drive it out of the tank until you get a chance to put decent gas back in. It shouldn't hurt anything, unless you spend the day with your foot on the floor. :)

You could always put a bottle of octane booster in it.

Kick your brothers azz is my suggestion. A guy that would do that makes you wonder wont you didnt find out about when he had your car. Although, this might be one of those stories cooked up so you dont look like the azz who accidently put regular in it :) ha

It should be OK. The ECM will be retarding the heck out of the thing, but it will seem ok as long as you keep your foot out of it. Make sure to give your brother an in-service for the future.

Knock sensors & ecm should protect it.

Seems like $10 can't be more than about 7 gallons, so you should have 13 gallons of super premium mixed in, which ought to make the overall octane closer to premium. So it is not at all like you have a tank of regular low octane to worry about.

I'd drive it easy, get it down to maybe 3/4 tank, refill with superpremium, then drive kinda normal til the tank gets pretty low before refilling with the proper superpremium.

HOLY MOLY BATMAN! That would FREAK me out.
Yep..as stated drive easy or put some booster in it but I would get some higher octane in it as soon as there is room in the tank. At least that would further dilute the "unstable" low octane stuff.
Low ocatane gas is not as stable therefore is more likley to combust when it's not supposed to. (causing the knock and ping).

No this was not a story He just isn't a car guy. Thank you for the information I will drive it down to 3/4 of a tank and then fill it back up. I'm sure everything will be fine and I will give him a lecture on the importance of car maintianence. Thanks again.
