Default PCM Programming - Now PCM Dead!! HELP!!!

Ok, now I have a big problem.

Using TunerCAT I downloaded my Flash and made a small change to the cooling fan temps and tried to write it back to the PCM. It established communications, then erased the PCM Flash, then I got an error message. "Invalid message Format" or something similar. I clicked Ok and it said retry was successful. It proceeded to approximately 50% then I received another "Invalid message" error. This time it aborted with no other message. Then my cooling fans turned on and I knew the PCM was dead. I tried to send the Flash image again and Tuner can't establish communications!!

This is not good. What options do I have now? I have my Flash memory on my laptop, how can I load it?

to the best of my knowledge the pcm is gone. you will need to send it off to have the flash chips changed out, for new ones. i have been down that road many times. check the camaro forum there is a guy who can put sockets so you can change out the flash chips if it happens again. he goes by "mad wolf" ion is a stand up guy.

an after thought would be to build a desktop programmer. there is a schematic floating around here somewhere. "glock '94" i believe has built one. i found this to be the most reliable way to program. there seems to be too many variables to flashing through the connector inside the vehicle. i went through about three new pcm's before i discovered that the laptop inside my vete was not a good way to program my pcm....

ion@soltan.net is the way to contact ion about pcm repair..best of luck

I was using the Windows version. I didn't know they had a DOS version. I would defintely prefer the DOS version. What's the name of it?

I think I'm going to socket my Flash chips and use my EPROM/Flash writer to make changes from now on. If I ever make another change. All I wanted is my fans to come on a little earlier. :(
