The little hole on the cluster does that dim the lights in the dash? my lights stopped working right. they stay low all the time and i remember a thread about this a while ago.
the reason i ask is i went to the GM dealership to get the part. at first they searched and were confused. i have a '90 and they said it didn't come with one. but i have the little hole and i remember when it worked i used to mess with it by putting my finger over it to see the lights change. (ok i'm easily amused) now they want me to pull the part and get a casting number off it.
does GM know what they installed on their cars? should i just live with the dash the way it is?
I know of no GM part numbers for components in the cluster, so a dealer cannot help you. The photoresistor behind the hole by the speedometer may or may not be defective, but there is more to the circuit than this part and the whole circuit needs to be checked.
Dealers do not repair clusters, only replace them or send the cluster to a service center.
