Now that the really hot weather is here-the maf is having a hard time surviving sitting next to the SC! So I'm finally going to do the speed density swap.
I need to clarify the diff between 730 and 727 ecms however...
As I understand it, one is "weatherproof" for under the hood and has 4 vs 3 connectors?
Also are the physical dimensions the same? I'm planning on keeping it up under the dash.
After more phone calls to boneyards etc....looks like I can get a 7730 ecm (same ecm, connectors as 90 to 92 camaro?) out of a corsica with the three connector plugs and a couple feet of wire cut off the engine harness.
So correct me here if I'm wrong.....I need an ecm pinout diagram from a 90 to 92 camaro (along with my 86); and are the pins the same-just pop them out of the original connectors and pop them in the plugs that I get from the boneyard?
Thanks!
Also, shoot up "730 Club" in the search engine in archived topics and check out some info there on VSS, etc.
Great, thanks!!! And oh yea, I've been searchin the archives.....
Another thought-camaros don't have vats...so for pinout of vats on 730??? Or do you just uncheck it in the prom and do without? Lookin' like I've got most everything else figured out.
Just printed out those diagrams...so the 730 does have a vats input!?
Pretty sure it has VATS. I din't, so I only had to uncheck VATS in the ECM...on a friend's 89 IROC, he had a problem with his factory VATS. I had to toggle the flag and also hardwire the VATS relay. So you may also have a bit of hardware to take care of depending on how VATS was handled on the later ECMs.
if your running a supercharger i'd go with the 749 ecm with a 2 bar map and ditch the extra fuel man. crap that comes with the sc. http://www.efi-tuning.org

If I could I would....but I still need to keep all smog equipment functioning to pass-and the 749 doesn't support all of it. So still using the fmu and tuning with a wide band. Started on the project now....not goin' too bad-just wish I was better at soldering!
