went to pull the wheel off the '85 and it didnt come with a key for the lock.........it looks nothing like the lock on the '95 so Im guessing its aftermarket
Re: can anyone identify this wheel lock???? (My 95)
If you dont have the key...Go to discount tire and let their best tech get it off... i stripped my key and thats the route I went. I made the mistake of trying to cut the first one off.....DONT TRY... its made of kryptonite.
Its a Mc Somthing...I just threw mine and all the lugs away.
Sent that pic to vette to vette they may be able to get you the right one.

Looks like a McGard lock. There were also a couple of el cheapo knockoff brands that looked like the McGard design but it's hard to say which is which.
A good tire shop should be able to pull those off for you without ruining the stud. The McGard locks came with a small card that had the key code on it so you could order a replacement key if needed. Did you happen to find something like that in any paperwork? Maybe stuck away in the owner's manual? Can you contact the last owner to see if he still has it?
Re: can anyone identify this wheel lock???? (My 95)
McGard is only about a half an hour from me. A friend of mine bought an 89 that didn't come with a key. He drove the car out there. They came out and looked at it, went inside and found him a key. I could try that with this picture if you would like. However this is a very bad week, I probably wouldn't be able to get out there until next Monday the28th. But if you aren't in a hurry, that may be the best starting point. Let me know.
Re: can anyone identify this wheel lock???? (My 95)
I lost my key, nobody could figure out who made the lug. A forum member told me to take a deep dish socket that just fits over the locking lug and beat it on with a 3lb sledge then use a breaker bar to turn the socket. He was reluctant to post the technique, in case a crimminal was reading. It took 2-3 hours to pull all four lock lug nuts, I was sweating like a freaking butcher (not that there's anything wrong w/that). The worst part was I found the locking key a few weeks later.... :smash:
Eric (always learning)
Oh, yea, use a Craftsman deep socket, if you know what I mean :jester
