Default What's the second-best T. Converter?

I just can't afford the $700+ for a Vigilante, so what are my options? I don't want to buy crap (obviously), but really cant afford much over $3-400.

looking for the best bang for my buck in roughly 2400 stall... ?
:lurk:

Talk to Grant (phone on my site) of Grant Transmissions in CT and see what he can come up with for you.

He put a 2,000rpm modified GN TC into my A4 and it works fine and cost about $225.

I got a Yank 2600 stall from Exit 28 Motorspors for around $300. I have been pleased with it so far.

I've read that the C5 guys all love Yank Converters and they were probably my first choice- I just couldn't find one under $600. THanks again, I will check into them as well.

They are under $300 until you start going into the 3000 stall range then they jump up to the $600 mark.

http://www.edgeracingconverters.com

I've been abusing mine (9.5", 2800, Street Edge) for about 6 months now. I'm completely satisfied.

It's behind a LT4/Hotcam conversion with a 100RWHP shot of nitrous.

I had very good luck with a Contential converter,,,it was $300 for a 2000 stall speed..

http://www.txchange.com/stalltc.htm

I had a 2000 & it was great.. then I went to a Vigilante...for various reasons I sold the Vigilante (It Is a GREAT Converter) but went back to my stock converter, however now I'm looking for just a "little" more in my 60' time & am thinking of getting another one from them..."Continental"

I just emailed them and they (whomever replied) said they didn't "sell that product." Did you perhaps mention the wrong vendor?

I got a Yank Stealth 2600 from VetteWrench a while back, I picked it up for $300 (on a group purchase; normally they're $350.) I like it.

:D Sweet. I saw the websight but didn't realize the F-body Stealth would apply to my 700R4. Screw it, I think I'll give them [Yank] a call tomorrow! Besides, the vettewrench website is down and I'm tired of trying to deduce who sells what!

In the spirit of comparing apples to apples, other than the stall speed what else is different in these aftermarket convertors as opposed to the stock one? Also, anyone know the the stall speed on the stock 96 convertor?
Thanks...

I also purchased a Yank Stealth 2800. I went straight through the manufacture which just happens to be a 30 min. drive for me so I went a picked it up.

Typically if you purchase it through a vendor it will be higher to cover there "handling fees". If you just send Yank an email or call them they will sell it to you.

One other thing, they're customer service was good as well. He builds them as they are ordered, he put my order in with an order he was working on for LPE. Took 2 days and it was done.
