Modding the LT1?
I want to get a bit faster. Like 375-450 hp like.
What to do? How can you acheive that?
Anyone have a SC'd LT1?
Do stage II heads w/ 1.6 roller rockers, a more aggressive cam, long tube headers, corsa catback exhaust, random 3" bullet cats (keep it emissions friendly okay?), have the intake matched up to the heads as well as possible, add a 52mm throttle body. To bring it all into harmony you'll need a good custom dyno tune job on your ECM chip.
Tired (note hour of post) have I forgot anything?... 2400rpm stall tc if an A4 car... 4.10 gears if an M6. 3.07 gears if an A4... new set of Taylor plug wires and maybe a slightly hotter coil unless you have a '96 in which case the stock coil is adequate (they upgraded it for '96). I bet he would also benefit from stronger injectors and an AFPR with such a setup (?)

That should get you to the 375rwhp level.
Head porting and matching the manifold will get you more. Picking another, larger duration cam will get you more too, like the CC306.
Dont mess with a SC unless youve changed the pistons and rods for it. I would not put more than 100shot of juice on the LT1 either, more like 50shot.

Maybe 375 flywheel hp, not 375 hp at the wheels.

How much have you all spent on modding the lt1 so far(heavy modding?)
And did you do the work yourself?
Before you start doing "heavy modding" you should do all the bolt-ons.
(I have an Lt-1 but in a Camaro)
lets see, I'm probably doing (hoping ;) ) 320rwhp and I ran 12.8s at 105.89 with my old TC.
Let me name some ## of what I have spend until now :D
$600 long tube headers (powercoated) (Installed myself)
$300 custom "Y" pipe (installed)
$550 Hotcam kit (cam, 1.6RR, springs...) I was a newbe and they rip me off $1000 for the install :skep:
$720 Vigilante 3600 Torque Converter.
$900 bullet proof transmission rebuild (I got a hook up on the price..ohh and that includes a shift kit, and a tranny cooler)
Those prices are not inlcudding S&H pluss you need to add all the little things that you need to up-grade or remplace... they add up real fast like (lets see) plugwires, coil, spark plugs, new opit (if you're doing a cam, get an new opti and save the truoble), heavy duty timing chain, custom programing, ET streets.... Pluss All the errors and mistake that you make.
Example. Trying to save a few $$$ I bought a "torco" Torque Converter $300. They owner of torco promesed me the strongest, most durable, bulletproof Torque converter that I could find for and incredible price! Unfortunately the TC broke and destroyed my new rebuilded transmission. Traying to save some money I finish paying for another transmission rebuild and having to buy a real ($720) TC "Vigilante". Troco gave me my money back for the TC (They would not pay for my tranny)
Right now I bought a set of Lt-1 heads and I'm getting them ported. My plans are to build another LT-1 engine (with a bigger cam, all forged internals. you know the deal)... when I'm done with it I'll just droped in my camaro and sell the other engine or find another body for it. My new plans are 420 rwhp and then a 200-300 shot of nitrous for the track.
700rwhp in a daily driver must be fun! :smash: http://www.terephoto.com/camaro/

I didn't even include the all the other extra stuff like an set of extra rims for my Et-streets, or the "just in case" rear end (just in case I break the rear end), or the new battery or the new alternator or the $2000+ in stereo system, or the gauges (fuel press, tranny temp, air/full ratio) :leaving:, or the B&M shifter, or the new brakes and rotors.
OMG I'm addicted :nopity

I'm waiting to see the results.
Just FYI, if you throw in a set of 3.73 gears/3000rpm stall converter, then add on a set of long tube headers/no cats/replace the resonator with a dual in dual out race muffler, then replace your main mufflers with straight pipe, as well as add some sort of air filter kit...I'm sure you'd be happy with your results (read: you'd run mid/low 12's)
