Hey guys,
took my Vette to the July West Coast Corvette Challenge event today.
101 degrees today  Beach Bum Todd says the DA was 6000' approx.
Track was hookin' good today.
Well this thing breathes like crazy! Does NOT choke at all. The biggest thing I noticed today was the balance of torque and top end breathing.
We shared the track with a super gasser association and a pro street association and they laid down good rubber + track preparation was good. That being said, my first two time trials, I dumped the clutch at idle and at 2500 RPM with the motor promptly bogging on the line. Good hooking line.
I then tried approx. 4000 RPM and beautiful launch! Motor breathing very well and applying torque smoothly, but not so much so as to overpower the tires. Definitely not the pummel you back into your seat like my Superram. Yielded my personal best 60' of 1.88 which is crap compared to most of you guys. I know, I know, but mine is a 6 speed car and am still on a shifting learning curve.
Previously I would spin or bog with the superram I was running. I was having difficulty finding that what I percieve as a narrow window to choose the correct launch RPM. Seemed to me now, that window is a little wider, more forgiving. (as if there is less torque vs. the Superram)
Sorry I only have SOTP impressions and not actual dyno results. Those will be coming in the future. Why not now? I have to pull this new motor back out to have some problems rectified(warrantee).
Beach Bum Todd inquisitively asked "How long your motor gonna be out?" I says "Probably a few weeks, why? Do you want to borrow my Stealthram??" :D
We could get some real info on this set-up! Just say the word Todd, I'll cruise over :D
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (TIMSPEED)
Hey dood. Where were you?
RT: .847 :D (got distracted by a slower car in the other lane leaving before me  ) Lesson learned.
60 ft. 1.88
ET: 12.84
MPH: 107.366  not my best
Car does a lot better at lower elevation.
I dunno off the top of my head what elevation Palmdale is, but it's up there!

Damn you... tempting me. I was just talking about this at work today.... why I don't race my vette. It's practically my daily driver. Call me chicken, but when I get a real job that pays, watch out. I can't afford to break the stuff that's already half broken.
Damn.. I should be preparing myself right now.. I'm going in to check out two potential jobs tomorrow morning before work. But no, instead I'm looking at parts on ebay. :smash:
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (89 Paul in Cal)
Let Beach use it. I for one would love to see what he would do with one strapped on his motor. It would be an awesome test and would let us all know if the stealth ram is the new ticket.
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (ski_dwn_it)
The racetrack he was racing at yesterday is at 2700 feet elevation and the temps were in the 95-100 degree area all day, thus a DA of over 5500 feet and I think peaked at right around 6000 feet. Based upon my experience, he would have ran around 4 tenths quicker at a track near sea level in equal weather.
Paul, I've been thinking about what we discussed.... If I can get that intake within the next few days, I can put it on and get it dialed in this week, and test it at Carlsbad raceway Saturday and give it back to you Sunday. If you think about it, with my current set-up of 219 cam, 3000 rpm converter and 3.45 gears, its the type of set-up that should work well with most intakes and would provide a very, very good understanding of that intake. However, If I recall you're a ways up the coast, whereas I am down in the Huntington Beach area, not sure how we can work this out.
In fact, if anybody has a Miniram sitting around, send it to me, I'll try it the following week and then return it.
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (Beach Bum)
Beach if you need any help with the tuning let me know! I would like to see the tests as well and would like to have a hand in helping in any way possible.
So when your off the forum and at the track do they refer to you as "The Huntington Beach BAd Boy"? Or is that just for Tito Ortize? UFC champion :jester
I think that Bech would be a GREAT person that could really shed some light on the Stealth Ram, and for one good reason. He has EXTENSIVE amounts of runs with his other setup, and knows exactly what the SR would have done in about any weather, hes a very consistant driver, and all those will make the testing a great comparison.
We can easily say. His SR would have run X and the stealth ram ran Y.
Also as he mentioned the rest of his setup is a pretty well matchup for the intake. That 219 cam seems to work well with EVERYTHING.
OHHHHHH I hope you are able to get it Beach, a MR then would be the cats **** for comparisons
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (ski_dwn_it)
Congrats on your performace improvments!
The StealthRam test (Beach Bum) I would love to see take place.

Hey Jesse,
Tito Ortiz has been ducking fights ever since he pounded Shamrock.
Randy Couture is the the CURRENT Huntington Beach Bad Boy, (although Tank probably thinks that he still is)
Tito's can't take more than a couple of hard shots to the head without getting rocked. Couture is too tough and his stand up skill have really improved (ask Chuck Lidell.) :boxing
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (ski_dwn_it)
Ski,
Thanks for the offer.... not much I'll need though...looks like that intake is 10 minutes to put on.
If the Stealthram can't run well with a cam with a total of .560 lift and roughly 220 duration, 383 and ported aftermarket cylinder heads, Headers, in front of a 3000 rpm converter and 3.45 gears.... then its not a good street intake.... but if it can, my Superram will be for sale the same day.
UFO champion... whats that ? Ultimate fighting thingamajig ??
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (Beach Bum)
Beach, dont you think the tune up will be off. The SR has 18 inch runners to the HSR at 6. That's a pretty big difference and should be looking for fuel in different places in the rpm range. I guess even without tuning you might get a feel for its potential. It would be a great comparo.
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (ralph)
Ralph,
Initially I am sure the tune will be off a bit, but I'll be able to ballpark it with timing and fp adjustments. If I like the feel of it.... I'll go forth and burn a new chip. Damn 85 ecms though... hard to tell whats going on unless I put it on a dyno with a wide band.
Re: STEALTHRAM: 2nd trip to the strip comments (Beach Bum)
Todd, I went to work Monday but was still beat from Sunday and didn't touch the car. I will be taking it apart today tho. Wednesday I have a business trip to Fresno. If I pull the motor, I would take it down to Speed-O-Motive in West Covina late Thursday or Friday and then head over to Santa Fe Springs for awhile(near the 605) If you could see your way to that location, I can hand over the HSTR to ya or leave it there and you pick it up later. Are you willing to gamble with it for Carlsbad? As you saw, the thing is like a miniram. It will go on and off in less than 30 minutes easy. I wouldn't be in a hurry to get it back, you could hang on to it and do more testing. I have to make a small adapter for the connection harness in your car. I'll try to figure something out tonight. Lemme know what ya think.
