Default Got a Knock?

On my 87 when the engine is started cold or warm you can hear knock. It sounds like it is comeing from the back of the engine, it completley goes away with any increase in rpm and when you shut it off it kind of clunks. The oil pressure is 70psi cold and 55psi warm I dont think its a rod but not sure. Will a flexplate cause this noise and if so how involved is it to replace. TIA

This exact thing is sometimes caused by " fuel line pulse ". My 92 used to do it, but there was a fix posted somewhere here. Involved isolating the fuel line with rubber tubing where it comes up in front of the firewall. I didn't attempt it personally since it involved the fuel lines. My mechanic fixed up for nothing while it was in for other service. Hasn't come back since. Don't get me wrong, if you open the hood and place your ear near the fuel line you will still hear the pulse. I guess what you do is isolate it from vibrating against something. At any rate, that's my $.02.

Thanks for the reply I hope it will be something minor like that but it really sounds like an engine or tranny knock. I think I can rule out a rod because it is not consistant with rpm and I have solid oil pressure, Has anyone had a flexplate problem and what would it sound like, also what is involved with R&R of the flexplate? Help Please. TIA :)
