I have a minor problem on a '96 C4 Bose radio. Seems there is a second or two of static (actually it sounds like a static discharge) when I turn my radio on. Then it plays fine. Any ideas?
Thats a tough one.The bose has so many problems it's hard to say.It could be one of the amps built in to the speaker.I pulled my bose out and went with kenwood, but if I remember right mine was doing the same thing. When you turn on the car, watch your power antennea. If the static is the same duration as the ant going up or down, it might be the motor going bad. :chevy
Is the static apparent when the antenna is being raised? Mine does the same thing, but I'm not to worried about it. Stops when the antenna motor shuts off at the end of it's travel.
The motor that runs the antenna up has brushes that arc slightly and induce noise into the antenna of your radio. The motor stops running when the antenna is up and the noise then stops.
Interesting. Thanks. I don't know what could have caused that all of a sudden, but I was doing some work on the rear tail lights on the drivers side last week. I wonder if I could have done something while working back there??
I don't know what you could do that would cause this problem. The antenna motor relay is under the cover at the rear of the rear compartment. I doubt that changing the dressing of the wires would do this. If you worked around the bottom of the antenna and somehow disconnected the shield connection to ground of the antenna coaxial cable, that would do it.
