I'm starting off tracking down an electrical gremlin in my '93 that appears to be blowing one of the courtesy light fuses. This causes the ctsy lights to stop working (however the cargo lights stay on ALL the time!) and it pisses off the body computer so it keeps flashing SYS on the speedo. I'm afraid it might also be angering the factory security system (maybe my vette is honking for help all night in the underground while I sleep... :( )
So the issue seems to be involving the RH CTSY fuse (5A) which is in spot 36. I replaced it this morning and it just burned out again this afternoon, while I was driving. Upon further inspection I noticed some of the other fuses didn't fit with the factory sticker on the fuse panel door.
The question I have is could somebody double check their '93's fuse panel and see if they, in fact, have a 20A fuse in the LH CTSY (spot 37), a 20A in the HORN (spot 7) and a 10A in the HTD MIR (spot 5). I'm guessing that these are all wrong and I would like to correct them. I've already swapped a 20A back into the LH CTSY to see if that would help...the weird part is that things just started acting up today. If this doesn't help then its time for the test light to come out :mad
Another note about this is that it set a code 25 in the body computer so I have obtained the diagnostic procedure for that code from the Mitchell repair guide. If anybody is interested in the procedure, let me know and I'll forward on the instructions.
Re: Fuse Panel Fun...What do you have? (mikey_vette)
Oh ya I forgot to include an interesting tip on the body computer. To retrieve all the computer codes (body computer, engine, ABS/ASR) you can jumper A to G on the ALDL (bottom left pin to top right pin) and it will display in a nice fashion on the speedo. The small numbers (1, 4, 9) are the specific computer being interogated. 1 is CCM (Body computer), 4 is engine, 9 is ABS/ASR.
To clear the CCM codes wait until the computer has cycled through all the codes and is displaying 1.0. Press Trip/ODO until 1.7 appears, then press Eng/Met until the --- appears. Turn off the key and remove the wire from the ALDL. Unfortunately this doens't clear the engine codes. Maybe somebody else knows how to clear them through this interface?
