Is your pedal really hard, and do you here a hissing sound when you press on the brakes. Hard pedal-bad booster, soft pedal-master cylinder

Snake under dash, bad booster. Just replaced mine about a month ago. Had the hard pedal as well. About the same feeling you get if you're driving with your foot on the brake and you shut the key off.

At worst, the pedal will be rock hard, you'll have no vacuum assist, it'll hiss, and the engine will stumble or even stall from the huge vacuum leak it opens up, and then you'll have no power steering as you plow into a street pole.
At best, the pedal will be rock hard, and you'll have partial assist, but it'll only get worse. Buy one with a lifetime warranty, and you won't have to worry about paying for one again.
If you buy a rebuilt, it's a crap-shoot. I've had horrible luck getting one that works, and so have others on here. :nonod:
