My alternator just died on me. It's lasted about three years which I guess is good for a Vette. It's been over 90 here for the last few weeks and I drove the Vette about every day which probably helped to kill it. (Car thermo normally read about 108 when I got in it). What's the best choice for a replacement? I'm thinking order the AC Delco and order a rebuild kit so if this happens again the Vette isn't out of commission for weeks waiting for a replacement alternator to get here.
Spend the bucks on an 140amp altenator.....like from tuff stuff......
Change it once....and then no problems.....even chromed... http://www.tuffstuff.com

I checked out tuffstuff and found a chromed 140 amp for 199.99 (no core charge) looks pretty good. How long has yours lasted? If I get a "pretty" one I'd hate to swap it out. Dang...now I'll have to start chroming the engine compartment :D:D:D
It is a much bigger and better alternator. I put one on my '86 a few months ago, so I really don't have any durability info. It charges a lot better than the CS130 it replaced, and if it lasts more than eight months then I will be ahead of the game again.
